Help Us Map the Music Industry: Take Our Survey!

Published 23rd July, 2024

The Victorian Music Development Office and RMIT University are researching roles and skills in Victoria’s music industry.

If you do any paid work relating to music we would love to get your input! It will take 10-15 minutes to fill out a short, anonymous survey, and you can go in the draw to win one of 5 $100 vouchers as a thank you for your time. Why are we doing this research? There is currently a lack of information about the size, composition and workings of the creative supply chain in Victoria. The COVID-19 pandemic had serious repercussions for the music industry in Victoria, and anecdotally has led to an overall skills shortage, particularly in support (non-artist) roles. However, even prior to COVID, a full picture of the roles that exist in Victorian music industries and their associated skill sets did not exist. This skills mapping activity will be important in creating a fuller picture of what the industry looks like, and what pathways may exist between different roles in the industry. Click the button below to do the survey. We would really appreciate a few minutes of your time here so if you hope for a better, more equitable music industry, give it a click.
