VMDO x Chartmetric - Victorian Music Data Hub

VMDO are inviting small Victorian music businesses & professionals to access the global music data aggregation & analytic platform, Chartmetric, which tracks the ups and downs of over 8 million artists across 20+ streaming and social media platforms.

Since 2016, the US music analytics firm has risen through the industry’s technology ranks to become the leading independent business intelligence app used across the global music industry.

While large music companies and organisations (e.g. Universal Music Group, AEG, Warner Music Group, Netflix, Live Nation, AWAL) are adopting Chartmetric as part of their operations to gain data & intelligence, VMDO recognises that it’s not always practical or cost-beneficial for small music businesses such as independent record labels and agencies to have ongoing access to such data services. But the potential impact these data could bring to businesses is invaluable.

The insight provided by Chartmetric could support critical decision-making and performance review, which can further contribute to the growth of the businesses.

Learn to Use Chartmetric & Get Certified

Chartmetric just launched a learning resource centre that includes a Chartmetric platform training certificate open to all music professionals, university students, and anyone interested in the music data space, for free. This is now available at learn.chartmetric.com.

While the certification exam serves as the centrepiece, Chartmetric’s education website also provides a study guide, music data glossary (e.g., what exactly is a monthly listener?), and links to video, blog, reporting & livestream content.

The website can guide you through how to use the platform and how to best utilise and analyse the data and information available. Users can also opt to take the step to go through the data analytics exam and acquire a Chartmetric certificate. Passing the exam demonstrates concrete knowledge and understanding of Chartmetric and data analytics in relation to the music business. All certificates are hosted on Accredible and can be added to and shared on LinkedIn and other social platforms.

The certification exam is free, but the questions on the exam require access to the Premium version of Chartmetric’s online web platform.

VMDO x Chartmetric - Victorian Music Data Hub

VMDO are partnering with Chartmetric in creating a Victorian Music Data Hub called “Chart-met-VIC” that allows individuals & small businesses to access Chartmetric’s premium plan (valued at $140 USD per month) via VMDO from now to at least 31 December 2022.

How To Apply

Apply to join our Victorian Music Data Hub by filling out the EOI form below. Individuals and businesses are all welcome to apply. EOIs are reviewed on a rolling basis, and successful applicants will be contacted via email as soon as a decision has been made. Unsuccessful EOIs will be offered a significant Chartmetric Premium subscription discount as part of the partnership between VMDO and Chartmetric.

In the case of a successful EOI, you agree to (1) obtain the Chartmetric certificate by 30 Nov 2022 (2) fill out a feedback survey from VMDO.
