First Nations Women In Music Victoria

The First Nations Women in Music Victoria (FNWIMV) is a free online program specifically aimed at supporting, empowering and engaging First Nations female artists and makers in creative, cultural, community and career development.
Each week, the group hears music, song and stories from guest artists, industry experts and mentors. Participants have the opportunity to connect, yarn, share, and explore facets of their creative journeys together. Each week, there are panel discussions, workshops and tutorials facilitated by Allara Briggs Pattison, FNWIMV Project Officer Monica McDonald and Founder, Maylene Slater-Burns.
Both Maylene and Allara have been actively involved in VMDO and VMDO First Peoples programs including the 2019 Blak Sound initiative.
The new program is inclusive of First Nations female-identifying, trans-women, gender fluid and non-binary musicians, creatives, activists and entrepreneurs who are actively in the music industry and have made a lasting influence and contribution to grassroots communities, local, national and international music industry. This program is for all of our women.
The First Nations Women in Music program is presented in partnership with VMDO, Women Victoria and Songlines Aboriginal Music Corporation.
