VMDO x BIGSOUND

Published 19 October, 2022

The Victorian Music Development Office was proud to support Bumpy, Birdz, Nat Vazer and Michael McSweeney (SoundSmith) to attend BIGSOUND this year, as well as have Kiernan Ironfield, Forest Claudette, Big Wett and Kee’ahn perform live as part of our Vic Meanjin Mixer event, co-hosted with Music Victoria.

We received some fantastic feedback from the crew about their experiences, including a couple of examples below:

“It was amazing to be surrounded by so many creatives all week and form so many new connections. Such a special atmosphere to be jumping from venue to venue, checking out all the incredible talent!" - Bumpy (Vocalist, Composer, Curator)

“After a very detached start due to the pandemic, attending BIGSOUND made me identify SoundSmith’s home within the Australian music industry. SoundSmith attended the Music Startup Amplifier program and was invited as a delegate off the back of it as what we really need right now is more industry connections. Meeting industry giants and attending web2 - web3 seminars was extremely useful.” - Michael (Co-founder, SoundSmith)

"My management artist, Kee’ahn, was given the opportunity to perform at the recent VMDO mixer event at BIGSOUND 22... one of the “must attend” events and as a result of playing in front of that large audience - many of whom were the upper echelon of the music industry from both Australia and internationally - Kee’ahn received interest and offers she would not have done." - Carolyn Logan

"Playing the VMDO Bigsound Mixer was an invaluable experience for BIG WETT and we've had so many great opportunities come out of this show. There were some really important promoters and labels in attendance from VIC and beyond and we got to meet them, give them an opportunity to see the show, and now have opportunities and contacts galore. Big shoutouts to VMDO for this experience and would love to see more from them!" - Sarah Morgan
