VMDO Networking Breakfasts - Financial Wellbeing

Published 18 May, 2021

Pursuing a financially stable career in the music industry can be challenging, complex, and even unsustainable. To thrive in the original ‘gig economy’, independent musicians, artist managers, music workers, and crew, have to make informed decisions daily about how to make money, pay taxes, and find financial stability.

Support Act, in partnership with music industry accounting experts White Sky, are pleased to present Money Money Money - a workshop series designed to educate people who work in music about how to improve your own mental wellbeing through good money management and improved financial literacy. Jo Syme (Big Scary, Pieater Records, Hotel Motel Records) will be hosting an in-conversation with White Sky staff members Matty Tan & Kavisha Kuruk.

Our first instalment of Money Money Money - Financial Wellbeing 101, will cover:

• What business structure is right for you

• Getting your taxes right and in on time

• Keeping good records

• What you can claim

• Budgeting

This workshop will be presented at Networking Breakfasts, brought to you by Music Victoria & VMDO. These events aim to bring together the emerging through to the established of the Victorian music business community to share ideas, catch up and collaborate.

These networking breakfasts will host a variety of special guests from around the state, country and international music community. Breakfast guests will present on industry trends, analysis, business learnings and opportunities.
