VMDO announces program of support for SXSW Austin 2024

Published 29 January, 2024

VMDO are pleased to announce a new program of support for Victorians attending SXSW 2024 in Austin. All Victorian-based acts officially showcasing are eligible to apply, as are Victorian-based managers of non-Victorian bands doing the same.

The program offers to assist in one of two ways. VMDO have engaged US marketing agency Marauder to assist Victorian acts in identifying and getting on the radars of their SXSW industry targets, pitching for showcases and general awareness. With years of experience in the music business, and too many global conferences to mention under their belts, Marauder are in an ideal position to help acts make the most of any opportunities available while in Texas. Because we all know that getting there is barely half the battle; grabbing attention and achieving your goals is much harder, and it’s heart-breakingly easy to leave Austin with nothing but a massive bill to show for your efforts. This program aims to lower the chance of that happening by hiring SXSW veterans to ensure you make the most of your time there.

Alternatively, for anyone who feels they don’t require that help and are able to reach their targets themselves, there is the option to “cash out” of the Marauder program and instead receive a financial contribution. The exact amount depends on uptake but will be somewhere around the $1000 mark. We would encourage all applicants, but particularly first-timers, to consider whether that level of contribution is more important to them than receiving help in setting up a successful visit.

EOIs are open now and will close on February 11th. For any further information contact neil@vmdo.com.au

To apply, click on the button below. Applications close at 11.59pm on Sunday February 11th. You will be contacted by VMDO w/c Feb 12th.

Please note that in the case of Victoria-based acts with Victoria-based managers, only one may apply. It is preferred that the manager completes the application.
