Next VMDO Virtual Networking Breakfast Focuses on Data Analytics in Music

Published 28 May, 2020

On Wednesday 10 June, Matt Bird (Senior Royalty Analyst, White Sky) will be discussing music industry data analysis, specifically the practical side.

Everyone has told you that data is king … but why? What can you take from data analytics to apply to your own business? By its nature, data analytics is looking at things that have already happened. But how can that information be used to make decisions going forward? Not everyone is a genius with spreadsheets, but there are tools you can use to inform yourself either way.

We’ll look at how budgets and past sales performance can be used to plan for your next release, and also dive into some record deal modelling, to see how all the numbers really stack up. This presentation will apply to artists and managers in a practical sense, but the learnings can also be applied more broadly across the music industry.

We'd like to encourage you to join us at 9.00am sharp. To begin with, the VMDO team will be taking participants through the format for VMDO Virtual Networking Breakfasts, which will be as close to the in-person format as possible. You'll have the chance to interact and ask the speakers questions, as well as network with your peers in Zoom breakout rooms before and after the presentation.
